SJ: Turning His Life Around!

SJ was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teenager. After being hospitalized three times, he finally came to terms with his illness and does not skip his medication anymore. However, he was still homebound and feeling very blue.

We first met SJ at his home last year. We invited him to join the rehab courses at our care center KLJY in the morning and to work at our corner store in the afternoons. Reluctantly he gave them a try and started to welcome all the changes occurring in his life. He turned out to be not only a very responsible worker, but also an approachable person and a good leader. We moved him to become a trainee at KLJY this October, and he is now the captain of our community volunteer services team as well. Eagerly, he would share with others that his life has turned around ever since he met us.
